ALVARADO - Wilson G.April 19, 1944 - March 26, 2025 Of Cheektowaga, NY. Passed away suddenly in Tampa, FL, at age 80. Beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Spychaj) Alvarado; dearest father of Wilson J. Alvarado, Yvette (Kurt) Schoenhals and Robert J. (Lucille) Alvarado; grandfather of Crysta, Austin, Gabriel and Isabella; great-grandfather of Audriana, Thomas, Bryson and Madison; loving son of the late Joaquin and Hippolita (Gonez) Alvarado; brother of Irma (late Alejo) Lopez-Alvarado and the late Antonio, Israel and Joaquin "Cholo"; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be present Monday, April 14, 2025 from 3-7 PM at the CASTIGLIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 873 Abbott Rd., South Buffalo, NY, (716) 824-6435. Mr. Alvarado was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the New York State Department of Corrections after 20 years of service. He entered the U.S. Army on January 9, 1964 as a Communication Maintainer (MOS-31V40), serving his nation with 34 months on active duty, including a 15 months tour of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Alvarado was honorably discharged at Army Personnel Center, Oakland California on November 7, 1966. For his service he was awarded; Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device. After Mr. Alvarado's military service, he served as a Corrections Officer for the State of New York, retiring after 20 years of service.
