Mr. Courtier entered the U.S. Navy on June 12, 1979, serving his nation for 3 years and 8 months. He was trained as a Mess Management Specialist, and his time included 13 months Sea Service. He was honorably discharged on February 19, 1983 at Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard, Bremerton, Washington, and for his service, received the Naval Expeditionary Medal and Navy Humanitarian Medal.
