MARCHELOS - Nicholas E. At age 79, of Buffalo, New York, died on January 28, 2025. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Stelios (Stanley) and Lula (Geormas) Marchelos. Nicholas attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1963. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, having majored in Political Science. After college, he served as a Vista Volunteer in St. Louis, Missouri. During his years of employment he worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections as Deputy Commissioner, Niagara Falls Urban Renewal Agency as Deputy Director, City of Niagara Falls as Assistant City Manager and City Manager and Niagara Falls School District as Director of Maintenance and Administrator for Support Services. He was also a member of the Niagara Falls Water Board having served as Vice Chairman. He believed his almost thirty-five years of public service to be an honor and privilege. In his employment, he worked on numerous capital projects including the Winter Garden, Niagara Falls water and wastewater treatment facilities and schools, including the new Niagara Street Elementary and Niagara Falls High Schools. His love for architecture led him to volunteer at the Frank Lloyd Wright Darwin Martin House for many years. He is survived by his partner, Russell Penner; and his sister, Barbara Marchelos. He was predeceased by a sister, Maria Salerno. He is also survived by his nieces, MaryLou (Kristian) Kuegler and Elizabeth (Gabriela) Salerno. No prior visitation.
