SCHMIDT - Michael Edward Of West Seneca, NY, March 5, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Michelle F. (Smith) Schmidt; dearest father of Eric M. Schmidt, Lindsey (Travis) McNichol and Michael J. Schmidt (Kristi Kovacevic); grandfather of Alyssa, Preston, Kailyn and Evan; great-grandfather of Ryder. Mr. Schmidt was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Please share your condolences at: www.castigliafuneralhome.com Mike entered the U.S. Army on April 13, 1970, serving his nation for 3 years active duty as a Armorer/ Supply Specialist (MOS- 76Y30), with 13 months in South Korea. Mike was honorably discharged at Fort Eustis, Virginia on April 12, 1973 with reserve obligation ending January 26, 1976. For his service, Mike was awarded; Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Expert Rifleman Badge (M-16) and Sharpshooters Badge (Hand Grenade).

After his service Mike worked and retired as a Pipefitter at Local Union 4, Buffalo, NY. Mike was a dedicated Patriot Guard Rider standing for those that stood for us over 10 years.
