HAMMOND - Margaret "Peg" (nee Shields) August 13, 2021, age 93. Predeceased by her husband the late Dr. Harry J. Hammond. Beloved daughter of the late William M. Shields and the late Elizabeth (Masterson) Shields. Predeceased by her brother, William F. Shields, Jr. and sister, Elizabeth M. (Shields) Atkins. Mother of Carol M. Ronci (Tony), Henry J. Hammond, Mary M. (Chet) Schlegel and Paul F. (Nancy) Hammond. Also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A life-long resident of South Buffalo, Peg married after graduating first in her class at South Park High School in 1945, she raised her four children and became very active in the former Holy Family Parish. Always looking for a new activity, she became a docent at the Buffalo Museum of Science, and also worked as a volunteer in the Mercy Hospital gift shop. She loved to sew, solve crossword puzzles and tell stories of life growing up in South Buffalo. Peg loved to laugh and was possessed of a sharp wit and Irish Whisper. She will be laid to rest following a Prayer Service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, NY, on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Close friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery office no later than 9:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
