MAGGIO - Joseph Patrick May 27, 1958 - June 29, 2025 Joe entered into rest on June 29, 2025 following a very courageous life lived with early onset Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Buffalo, New York in 1958 to the late Joseph A. Maggio and the late Patricia Collins Maggio. He grew up on Kermit Avenue on Buffalo's East Side. Joe attended St. Gerard's Elementary School, the Nichols School, and Canisius College. He excelled at sports throughout his school career. Joe joined the Army Reserves out of college and after that became a businessman. He lived much of his life on the West Coast, where he enjoyed sports, even landing a weekend position as a live sportscaster in Bakersfield, California. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Despite living on the West Coast, Joe remained a true Buffalo Bills fan throughout his life, always remaining optimistic that "this will be the year." Prior to his death, Joe was living in Klamath Falls, Oregon where he had wonderful friends who helped him live life to its fullest. He worked Small Boat Rescue for the Klamath County Sheriff's Department, fished, played golf, and loved to spend time with his friends at Gino's Cafe & Sports Bar. Joe was cherished by his family, including his step-mother, Linda LaSpisa Maggio; and his siblings, Mary Jane (Matthew) Hens, Beverly (Kevin) Szen, Donna Mellor, and Patrick (Anne) Maggio. Joe adored his nieces and nephews, Lauren, Matthew, Alana, Jessica, Andrew, Ryan, Alicia, Maria, the late Joseph, Amy, and Samantha. Also, Joe remained close to many of his cousins who were extremely supportive of him as his health deteriorated. Most recently, Joe resided at the Greenfield Court Assisted Living Facility where he easily made friends. While there, he was treated with love and concern by both the staff and fellow residents, and will be remembered for his friendliness and sense of humor. Family and friends will be present Friday, July 25, 2025 from 5-8 PM for a Celebration of Life Gathering at the CASTIGLIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 873 Abbott Rd., South Buffalo, NY, (716) 824-6435. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 129 Laverack Ave., Lancaster, NY, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10 AM. (Please assemble at church).
