Joseph was honorably discharged at Fort Bragg on April 13, 1988, with reserve obligations ending November 3, 1989. For his service he was awarded; Good Conduct Medal, Army Lapel Button, Marksman Badge (M- 16), Hand Grenade Marksman Badge.
