ENGLISH - Joan M. Of Kenmore, NY, formerly Sr. Assumpta of the Sisters of Sr. Mary of Namur, January 16, 2021, at Hospice and Palliative Care in Buffalo at the age of 88. Daughter of the late Carlton R. and Loretta C. (Murphy) English; sister of the late John, James and Thomas English; survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a sister-in-law, Jean C. English. Joan's teaching ministry included parochial schools in Kenmore, Buffalo, Lowell, MA, and Kingstree, SC. She served as principal at Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Paul, and Annunciation Schools. Joan worked as an office assistant at the Valley Community Center, a clerk typist at the Buffalo Board of Education and at various public schools. She is especially remembered for her years at Build Academy. After retiring, she was on the staff of the Kenmore-Tonawanda Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Joan's love for the poor and the needy inspired her to volunteer at the Catholic Worker House in NYC, and with the Ladies of Charity at St. Timothy Church, Tonawanda. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
