RHINEHART - Janice M. (nee Clark) Jan Rhinehart, 88, of Snyder, New York, went to her heavenly home, on April 4, 2024.

Jan was born on March 31, 1936 to Howard and Adelia (Marshall) Clark, in Buffalo, New York.

She began her lifelong love of music, playing the clarinet at Hamburg High School, graduating as a Bulldog in 1953. She would reflect on not believing that her kids were Amherst Tigers, as they were her High School rivals growing up.

Jan graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1956, with a degree in Retailing. While at RIT she was a member of Phi Upsilon Phi Sorority. Jan met Forrest (Woody) Rhinehart at the United Methodist camp in Silver Lake, NY, in the summer of 1952. They were married on June 9, 1956 at Hamburg United Methodist Church. Within 5 months of their marriage, Woody was drafted, serving his time in Germany. Jan joined him there during his service.

Jan's Christian faith sustained her throughout her life. She continued to be a member of Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Amherst (over 50 years) serving as Treasurer for several years. Jan was a member of many CUMC church groups over the years, including Couples club and Woman's Circles. She was proud to be an active member of PEO, a faith-based organization that supports and promotes women.

A strong Faith indeed was required, being raised in a devotedly loyal Buffalo Bills (BB) family, passing her passion on to her 3 children. They enjoyed many Bills games at Rich Stadium, along with her parents, in the 1970's and early 1980's. Jan faithfully continued her BB support to this day, watching games on TV in season and following the daily afternoon Bills' broadcasts throughout the year.

Most importantly of all, Jan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jan found joy caring for her husband and extended family. She also enjoyed seasonally decorating her home, entertaining friends and family, as well as watching birds on the back patio and tending the large rock garden behind her home in Snyder. We will remember her gentle soul, the love she radiated and the example of faith that she set for all of us. Her legacy is one that is deeply rooted in her love for God and her commitment to living out her faith in every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Woody and her children. Marc (Karen) Rhinehart, Marcia (Charles "Mac" Holder) Rhinehart and Marshall (Mary) Rhinehart. She has three grandchildren, Ashley Rhinehart, Sara (Vogel) Warnes and Jacob Rhinehart, and five great-grandchildren.
