COATSWORTH - James Albert June 2, 1947 - July 11, 2025

Of Elma, NY, at the age of 78. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Reverend Deborah M. Coatsworth. He is also survived by his wonderful sons, Robert & Samuel Coatsworth. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hazel Coatsworth; brother, Robert "Bear" Coatsworth; sister, Janet Coatsworth; and his niece, Christine Coatsworth.

After graduating from Iroquois CSD in 1965, Jim attended Corning Community College, where he met lifelong friends. His passion for sports, service, and youth began with his work at the Boy's Club of Holland in 1973, eventually becoming Executive Director and coaching until 1994. He then moved to Elma with his wife and became Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of EMW. In Elma, Jim coached numerous sports, taught Sunday school, served at Elma United Methodist Church, taught driving school, and drove school bus for Iroquois CSD for 20 years. His life was defined by dedication to Christ, family, and the Iroquois community.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Gathering, Friday, August 1, 2025, from 3-7 PM at the Elma United Methodist Church, 2991 Bowen Road, Elma, NY. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Elma UMC, followed by a casual celebration for family and friends at 361 North Davis Rd., Elma, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elma United Methodist Church (Youth Ministry) or the Boys & Girls Club of EMW.
