Obituary

CRAIG - Alexander "Alex" Of South Buffalo, NY, died peacefully on 12/09/24 after a struggle with Alzheimer's disease and arthritis. Alex was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on 1/11/31 to Eliza (Jamieson) and Colin Craig, originally of Glasgow, Scotland and then Pleasantville, NY. He was the beloved husband for 31 years of Patricia (Malone) Craig, and former husband of Joan (Podgers) Craig. Alex was the dear father of Susan (Francis) Redding, and Kristen (David) Braun. He was the grandfather of Nicholas (Sarah) Redding, Jessica, Jonathan, and Sarah Redding, and Emma Braun. He was the great-grandfather of Eliza Redding. Alex was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary Carol Miller and his brother-in-law, Alan Miller. He also leaves behind many dear in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. After graduating from Pleasantville HS in 1949, Alex served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He attended Buffalo State College, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelors of Special Education and later a Master's degree. He taught fifth grade for 9 years at Philip Sheridan Elementary in Kenmore, NY before beginning his career as an elementary administrator in the West Seneca School District for over 20 years. Alex was a proud member of the American Legion Post #567, West Seneca Masons Lodge #1111 and the Ismailia Shriners. He was a lifelong, avid NY Giants fan. In retirement, Alex was part of a musical trio "The Educators", playing keyboard at various retirement homes. Per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.
